Who am I?

My name is Avery Doiron, and I’m a student attending St. Francis Xavier University in my home province of Nova Scotia, Canada. I’m currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics. I’m passionate about data science and sports analytics, with a focus on building projects that analyze player and team performance in the NHL. My work includes developing player and team evaluation models, creating custom data visualizations, and publishing analytics-focused content.

My family has always been deeply involved in hockey. My two sisters, Kendall and Carrie, play competitively, with Kendall recently representing Hockey Canada’s U18 National Women’s Team and Carrie competing at the Esso Cup. While their work is done on the ice, mine is focused on understanding the game through data, code, and analytics.

I am currently working as a research intern at StFX, applying data analysis techniques to hockey-related research problems. In my free time, I continue to develop personal projects and share my work through this site. My goal is to work in the analytics department of a professional sports organization, building tools and models that support decision-making and provide deeper insight into the game.
