About Me
Who am I?
My name is Avery Doiron and I'm a student attending St. Francis Xavier University in my home province of Nova Scotia, Canada. I'm currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics. I have a strong interest in data science, particularly how it can be used to uncover insights and tell compelling stories in the world of sports.
Sports have always been a big part of my life and my family's life. Look no further than my sister, Kendall Doiron, who was selected for Hockey Canada's U18 National Women's Team and is currently playing for the Shattuck St. Mary's Girls Prep hockey team. We both share an immense passion for hockey and while her work is done on the ice, mine is off the ice through data and analytics. I enjoy digging into player stats, trends, and patterns to better understand the game and uncover what makes teams and players effective.
My ultimate goal is to work in the analytics department of a professional sports team, where I can combine my technical skills with my passion for the game. Whether it's through research, custom-built data tools, or visual storytelling, I'm driven to make an impact in the sports analytics community.
